As part of the events organized for International Women’s Day on March 8, a seminar titled “Fairy Tales and Social Roles” was held by Bartın University School of Foreign Languages.
The seminar was delivered by Instructor Sevcan Akyıldız, one of our School’s instructors. During the session, it was emphasized that fairy tales are not merely entertaining narratives, but also important texts that reflect cultural values and social roles.
The seminar examined how female and male characters are represented in classic fairy tales through various examples. It also addressed the role of fairy tales in transmitting cultural heritage and values, while highlighting how these traditional narratives shape social expectations and perceptions.
The event was attended by students from both the Optional and Compulsory English Preparatory Programs and concluded with an interactive Q&A session.
