On March 25, 2026, a seminar titled “From Script to Stage: Surviving Your First English Play” was held at Bartın University Ağdacı Campus Conference Hall for students in the English Preparatory Program.
Each year, students in the English Preparatory Program take part in a theater performance process. This year, the process was supported with an additional seminar designed to help students begin their stage preparations with greater awareness and confidence.
Supporting the Theater Performance Process
The seminar was designed to support students in their Theater Performance assessment, which is one of the official grading criteria for the Compulsory English Preparatory Program. The session covered key topics, including:
Scriptwriting and Adaptation: Techniques for writing short scripts and adapting existing texts.
Physical Preparation: Correct breathing techniques for stage performance, as well as tongue, lip, and facial exercises.
Vocal Training: Warm-up exercises to prepare the voice for the stage.
Stage Use: Basic stage use, diction, and articulation.
Building Confidence and Fluency
In addition to technical skills, the event offered practical tips to help students make their performances more fluent and enjoyable while building confidence on stage.
We believe that the seminar will contribute to our English Preparatory Program students’ preparation for their theater performances. We would like to thank Lecturer Zeki Cem Kaçar for this insightful session.
