Organized with the support of Bartın University School of Foreign Languages and coordinated by the Foreign Languages Club, a “Language Festival” was held on April 9, 2026, at Amasra Tourism Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. The event was part of the project titled “Rural Tomorrows: Youth Empowered by Language,” carried out within the framework of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC).

The festival aimed to help young people see foreign languages not only as a subject to be learned, but also as a means of active communication. With the contributions of university student clubs and international students, the event brought together cultural, artistic, and social activities.

Collaborative Participation of Student Clubs
In addition to the Foreign Languages Club, several other student clubs from Bartın University participated in the festival, including the Music Club, Dance Club, Visual Arts Club, Anime-Manga Club, and International Students Club. Through various stands, the clubs and international students had the opportunity to introduce their activities and cultures while interacting with participants.

The festival opened with a speech by Project Coordinator Hazal Çağ, who stated that the project primarily aims to provide equal opportunities for young people in rural areas, create spaces for self-expression, and bring different cultures together. Lecturer İbrahim Kayacan, the project coach and club advisor, also attended the event and supported the students throughout the program.

A Multicultural Celebration
The festival included a variety of international performances and cultural activities. Students from Indonesia and Turkmenistan performed traditional dances, while a dombra performance by a student from Kazakhstan attracted great interest.

Students from Azerbaijan and other international students also set up stands to introduce their countries and share elements of their cultural heritage, giving the event a multicultural character.

Throughout the festival, artistic activities organized by the Visual Arts Club allowed students to showcase their creativity, while stage performances by the Dance Club and Music Club added energy to the program.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
The event was held with strong participation and active engagement, allowing participants to experience foreign languages as practical tools for communication. Supported by the European Union, the Language Festival contributed to students’ self-confidence and self-expression while offering an applied example of language learning beyond the traditional classroom setting.
