Under the consultancy of the Bartın University School of Foreign Languages and the coordination of the Foreign Languages Club, a "Language Festival" was organized on April 9, 2026, at the Amasra Tourism Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. The event was part of the project titled "Rural Tomorrows: Youth Empowered by Language," conducted within the framework of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC).

The festival aimed to transform young people into individuals who not only learn a foreign language but also use it actively. With contributions from university student clubs and international students, the festival was a vibrant event encompassing cultural, artistic, and social dimensions.

Collaborative Participation of Student Clubs

In addition to the Foreign Languages Club, several other clubs from Bartın University participated in the festival, including the Music Club, Dance Club, Visual Arts Club, Anime-Manga Club, and the International Students Club. Through various stands, these clubs and international students had the opportunity to introduce their work and cultures while interacting with participants.

The opening of the festival featured a speech by Project Coordinator Hazal Çağ, who stated that the project's primary goals are to provide equal opportunities for youth in rural areas, create environments for self-expression, and bring diverse cultures together. Lecturer İbrahim Kayacan, the project coach and club advisor, also attended and supported the event.

A Multicultural Celebration

The festival offered a rich tapestry of international performances:

  • Traditional Dances: Students from Indonesia and Turkmenistan performed traditional dances.

  • Musical Performances: A Dombra recital by a student from Kazakhstan drew great interest.

  • Cultural Promotion: Students from Azerbaijan and other international students set up stands to introduce their countries and share their cultural values, giving the event a truly multicultural character.

Throughout the festival, artistic activities organized by the Visual Arts Club allowed students to showcase their creativity, while stage performances by the Dance Club and Music Club added a dynamic atmosphere to the program.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The event proceeded with high participation and interactive engagement, allowing participants to experience foreign languages as a practical tool for communication. Supported by the European Union, the "Language Festival" contributed to students' self-confidence and self-expression. It stands as a prime example of an applied approach that takes language learning beyond the traditional classroom setting.
