As part of its academic advising activities, the School of Foreign Languages at Bartın University organized a seminar titled “Foreign Language Learning Strategies” to help students approach their language learning process more effectively and with greater awareness.

The seminar was delivered by Instructor Dr. Burçin Kef, one of our School’s instructors. During the session, it was emphasized that language learning is not only about memorizing vocabulary or grammar rules; the strategies used throughout the learning process also play an important role in student success.

The seminar focused on the characteristics of successful language learners and introduced different types of learning strategies. Students were also provided with practical suggestions on vocabulary learning techniques, the shadowing method, daily language exposure, reading habits, and weekly study planning.

A significant part of the seminar was devoted to the effective use of artificial intelligence tools in language learning. Dr. Kef demonstrated through examples how students can use AI tools to practise speaking, improve their writing skills, and evaluate their own learning progress.

The event was attended by students from both the Optional and Compulsory English Preparatory Programs and concluded with an interactive Q&A session
