A cooperation protocol has been signed between Bartın University (BARU) Faculty of Literature and the School of Foreign Languages to provide students with opportunities to develop their foreign language skills in authentic communication environments.
The “Language Café” protocol was signed by Prof. Dr. Aslı Yazıcı, Dean of the Faculty of Literature, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Özkan Avcı, Director of the School of Foreign Languages. The initiative aims to increase active participation and interaction while creating more opportunities for practice-based language learning.
The Language Café activities are designed to help students improve their English speaking skills through natural communication. The protocol covers students currently receiving English preparatory education at the School of Foreign Languages as well as students enrolled in various departments of the Faculty of Literature.
The program will be conducted in small groups, with students participating on a voluntary basis. Discussions will focus on a wide range of themes, including culture, history, art, philosophy, sociology, psychology, literature, and daily life.
In addition to improving communication skills, the program is expected to foster social interaction, intercultural awareness, and self-confidence among participants. By extending language learning beyond the traditional classroom setting, BARU continues to support innovative and student-centered educational practices.
