A Foreign Language Proficiency Exam will be held on 16–17 September 2026 for students newly enrolled in the English Language Teaching (ELT) and English Translation and Interpreting (ETI) undergraduate programs at our University for the 2026–2027 academic year. Students who were unable to successfully complete the Compulsory English Preparatory Program during the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 academic years are also eligible to take the exam.

Students who successfully pass the exam will be exempt from the Compulsory English Preparatory Program and will continue their studies in their respective undergraduate programs. Students who do not take the exam or who take the exam but fail to achieve the required score must attend the Compulsory English Preparatory Program.

About the Proficiency Exam

The Compulsory English Preparatory Program Proficiency Exam will consist of two components: a written exam and an oral exam.

Students taking the exam must be present in the examination room at least 20 minutes before the beginning of each session and must bring either their Turkish Republic ID card with a photograph or a valid student ID card/document with a photograph. Students who present an identification document without a photograph will not be admitted to the examination room. Students are also kindly reminded to bring the necessary exam materials, such as a pencil, eraser, and pencil sharpener, for the written exam.

As student registration is still in progress, the classroom lists* of students eligible to take the written component of the Compulsory English Preparatory Program Proficiency Exam will be announced later. Only students who take the written exam and achieve the required score will be eligible to take the oral exam on the following day, 17 September 2026.

The list of students eligible to take the oral exam, together with their oral exam session times and room information, will be announced on the website of the School of Foreign Languages later in the day following the written exam on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.

The classroom lists for the written exam and information regarding the rooms assigned to students will be provided in subsequent announcements.
